As I have discussed and cursed in the past, we have a Hilton Grand Vacations time share. Because of Covid, we have had numerous points pushed forward to the point where if we didn’t use them this year, we would lose them. Since we have stayed at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort in Carlsbad before, and really enjoyed it, we decided to stay there again.
Day 1
This was our travel day to Carlsbad. Because we left early, it only took just over 2 1/2 hours to get there. Since we were very early for check in, we went to the outlet mall and did some shopping before we checked in. After check in, we checked out our ocean view room. There was a towel elephant on our bed.

We went out to dinner at PF Chang’s and really enjoyed our dinner.
Day 2
The next day, the cloud cover dissipated and the view from our room was even better.
We drove out to the Point Loma Light House located inside the Cabrillo National Monument. The light house was really cool to check out, the scenery was amazing, and we actually learned some things at the visitor’s center. Here are some pictures of the area.
One of the exhibits gave the ranges for the different sized guns. This was very interesting to me. Did you know a 16″ gun had a range of 26 miles, while the 8″ guns had a range of 20 miles.

After this fun visit, we returned to our room, then had a delicious dinner at Karl Strauss, located on out hotel’s property.
Day 3
We woke up to these beautiful views.
We spent the day shopping in the downtown Carlsbad area, had a delicious dinner at King’s Fish House, and returned to our room to these beautiful views.
Day 4
This was our travel day home. Luckily, it was event free and we made it home safely.
Our next trip is a combination of our son Garrett’s birthday in Las Vegas, and attending our friend’s mom’s memorial service in the same city. Stay tuned for that!
