Here it is, the final trip of the year. On this trip, we went to Prescott for five days with our friend Sylvia.
Day 1
Everyone in unison……………….This is our travel day. We drove most of the day and arrived in Prescott around 6 PM. We checked into our Airbnb, which we have stayed in before. The house is a Historic Landmark and we really love it. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a spa in the backyard. It is within walking distance to the downtown courthouse square, but we did not make the walk on this trip.
I love the bookshelf that is between the living room and kitchen.
I’m not sure why Cindy read the red book cover to cover several times.

Day 2
We spent the day driving around to the different new housing locations and touring the new home models. The prices in Prescott are still fair, but they are increasing and several of the neighborhoods we toured last December have now sold out. This city and the surrounding areas continue to be very popular for people moving into the area.
We had lunch at the Prescott Regional Airport, a tiny airport that has one commercial terminal for United Airlines that has one daily flight to Los Angeles and one daily flight to Denver. It primarily serves small planes and activities for the students of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an aeronautical university in Prescott.
In the evening, we went down to the downtown courthouse area with all of their Christmas lights.
They do the display every year and it is always well done. It was also really nice to be able to eat in restaurants, unlike California where our overlords have limited us to take out only.
Day 3
We spent most of the morning and early afternoon shopping, or at least Cindy and Sylvia spent the time shopping. I spent the time walking around, following them, and wondering what I had done in a past life to deserve this.
Later in the afternoon, we retuned to our place and went in the outdoor jacuzzi. We had to do it in the afternoon when it was in the mid 50’s and tolerable. Any later or earlier, and it was just too cold outside. There are no pictures of us in the jacuzzi so you don’t have to wonder what you did in a past life to deserve having to see that. You’re welcome. After our relaxing time in the jacuzzi, I went to the local liquor store/restaurant and picked up some really delicious pizza. Because everyone knows the best pizza comes from liquor store/restaurants.
Day 4
We started the day with a drive toward Lynx Lake. At the very beginning of our drive, in the neighborhood area near our place, we were all shocked to see a squadron of javelins running along the side of the road, into a side yard. First of all, I have never seen wildish javelinas running in a neighborhood. Until now. Second, I didn’t know a group of javelina were called a squadron until I looked it up. Third, we learned it is not that uncommon for javelina to be seen roaming around Prescott. While they are not tame, they are not very afraid of people either. They just do their thing and want to be left alone. You learn new things everyday.
After the squadron ran along the side of a house, a mama javelina ran into a front yard with her baby. It appeared as if the resident had left some food for them.
After the javelina excitement, we drove to Lynx Lake and walked around for a bit.
Lynx Lake is a beautiful recreation area for walking, hiking, boating, and fishing. There is no swimming allowed.
After our nature experience, we drove to the outskirts of Prescott near the granite Dells and looked at a few more model homes. The homes were nice and the views were even better.
Day 5
This was our travel day home. We were sad to leave the really cool home we had stayed in, and leave the land of open restaurants and freedom.
We drove to the Prescott Valley area and looked at a few more model homes. The homes in the Prescott Valley are typically a little less expensive, but you are also a little further away from things. It seems like there are more families in the Prescott Valley area. There were several home models with two stories, while it seemed like the closer you were to Prescott, the number of two story homes decreased or were not offered at all. Prescott appears to be catering to the older residents and transplants who do not want to live in a two story house.
We drove home without incident, as it should be.
We already have one trip planned for next year. We will be spending the month of February in St. Joseph, Missouri. This will allow us to experience a cold weather region, but hopefully, not too cold. We also plan on taking the trailer out in January, but that has not been scheduled yet.
